Mexico Missions 2008

In a little while I'll be heading off to Aguascalientes, Mexico from June 30th - July 15th for my final missions trip with Bethel. So sad just thinking about it that way.
Ahh well... God will always continue to use this youth group in so many wonderful ways it makes me happy again.

So armed with the Gospel and only the Gospel, we venture into a land where our brothers and sisters might not have heard the Good News.
All we can do is deliver the Good News and to love them as Christ has loved us.
I pray that we attach nothing of ourselves or our own egos to this offering and to possess the humility to seek God's will in anything and everything we do.
Team unity in purpose and in spirit.

Please pray for us and our safety, both spiritual and physical.

In case anyone misses me and for some odd reason longs to know where I am on the world map, here it is below:

Right smack dab in the middle of Mexico. No seriously, I bet it's the exact center of Mexico if you measured it out mathematically.

Sometimes I don't know if I'm smelling human crap or a delicious roast beef sandwich. I think that's why God invented eyes, so we can figure it out before we put it in our mouths.

Creepy Gnome Terrorizes Town

Superbelter

By VIRGINIA WHEELER
Published: 11 Mar 2008

A TOWN in South America is living in fear after several sightings of a 'creepy gnome' that locals claim stalks the streets at night.

The midget - which wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk - was caught on video last week by a terrified group of youngsters.

Teenager Jose Alvarez - who filmed the gnome - yesterday told national newspaper El Tribuno that they caught the creature while larking about in their hometown of General Guemes, in the province of Salta, Argentina.

He said: “We were chatting about our last fishing trip. It was one in the morning. I began to film a bit with my mobile phone while the others were chatting and joking."

"Suddenly we heard something - a weird noise as if someone was throwing stones."

"We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like figure begin to emerge we were really afraid."

Jose added that other locals had come forward to say they had spotted the gnome.

He said: “This is no joke. We are still afraid to go out - just like everyone else in the neighbourhood now.

"One of my friends was so scared after seeing that thing that we had to take him to the hospital.

HAHAHAHAHA.... this is either REALLY HILARIOUS or REALLY FREAKY.

This is one reason why I love America:

Stanford offers middle-class tuition break

The university will give free tuition to most undergraduates whose families earn less than $100,000 a year.
By Larry Gordon, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

Stanford University today announced a big boost in financial aid that would give free tuition to most undergraduates from families that earn less than $100,000 a year and a complete package of tuition, room and board to those whose household incomes are less than $60,000.

Stanford joins a string of wealthy, elite schools, including Harvard University, Yale University and Pomona College in Claremont, that have taken similar steps in the last few months to help middle-class families pay for college. Such schools in the top level of American universities have been under congressional pressure to spend more of their multibillion-dollar endowments on scholarships and to take other steps to reduce expenses for students.

Stanford President John L. Hennessy said the move was intended to ensure that no high school senior rules out applying to the university because of cost.

Next year's tuition at Stanford is set to be $36,030 and room and board $11,182.

**************************************************************************************

This is such an empowering and liberating move by top universities. It basically embodies what this country is all about. It doesn't matter what class or family or race you're born into. How far and how high you go depends on one thing: how hard you're willing to work. Every Ivy League school is doing this, including Princeton, and more schools will follow. I personally remember feeling hopeless back when I was in high school, knowing my family's financial situation and the dismaying prospect of being crippled by loans upon graduation. It's probably the main reason I decided to attend a public school, which I don't regret one bit, but I'm really happy for the hope this gives the newer generation of students whose families struggle financially. Tell your friends, tell your parents! Don't worry about money, just work your butt off in high school and give it your all, and you can go anywhere you want to go.

Whistler, Here I Come!

In a couple hours I'll be heading off to Mt. Whistler Ski Resort in Canada. Should be oodles and oodles of fun! I will be coming back by Monday evening. Hawt chicks of America, please... it will only be a few days. I will be back. Do not cry.
